The Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has declared a Bharat Bandh today, August 21, in response to the Supreme Court's recent decision regarding SC/ST reservations. The bandh is being supported by various SC/ST groups in Rajasthan, as well as other social and political organizations across the country.

According to reports, the Supreme Court's ruling allowed states to create sub-categories within SC/ST groups, with the aim of prioritizing those who are most in need of reservation benefits. This decision has sparked widespread debate and opposition, leading to today's nationwide protest. The main objective of the Bharat Bandh is to challenge the court’s ruling and demand its reversal, as many believe the decision is unjust.

In preparation for the bandh, law enforcement agencies have been instructed to increase their presence across all districts to prevent any unrest. DGP UR Sahoo mentioned that special directives have been given to SPs to ensure peace and order during the protest.

In light of potential violence, top police officials held a video conference to strategize and coordinate their response. Western Uttar Pradesh has been identified as a particularly sensitive area, and police forces there have been placed on high alert.

While public transport and many private offices are expected to remain closed during the Bharat Bandh, essential services like ambulances will continue to operate to ensure public safety.
