A 15-year-old boy, who was stabbed by a fellow student, passed away on Monday after fighting for his life for four days. The incident, which occurred in Udaipur, has ignited communal tensions and led to widespread violence in the city.

Inspector General of Police Ajaypal Lamba confirmed that the boy's body has been taken to the mortuary for a postmortem. Once completed, the body will be handed over to his grieving family. The boy, identified as Devraj, was attacked outside his school last Friday, a day that has since plunged Udaipur into chaos.

In a heart-wrenching moment, Devraj’s sister tied a rakhi on his wrist while he was still in the hospital, as it was the festival of Raksha Bandhan, Udaipur collector Arvind Poswal told reporters.

The stabbing incident sparked immediate outrage among right-wing groups, who took to the streets in protest. The situation quickly escalated, with angry mobs setting vehicles on fire and vandalizing shops. In response to the unrest, additional police forces have been deployed throughout the city, and mobile internet services have been suspended to prevent the spread of further violence.

Authorities acted swiftly, detaining the accused student and arresting his father. In a controversial move, the district administration demolished the family’s house on Saturday, claiming it was illegally built on forest land. The demolition was carried out in the presence of police, with JCB machines used to raze the structure.

The violence continued on Friday evening as a mob gathered in the Madhuban area to protest the stabbing. Stones were thrown, and several cars were set on fire. The unrest spread to other parts of the city, including Bapu Bazar, Hathipole, Ghanta Ghar, and Chetak Circle, where markets were forced to close, and a shopping mall suffered damage to its glass gates.

To restore order, authorities have imposed prohibitory orders banning public gatherings and ordered the closure of all government and private schools in Udaipur until further notice. The situation remains tense, with heavy security presence and the city on high alert.
