Supporters of the right-wing group Patit Pavan Sanghatana vandalized Liquid Leisure Lounge on Fergusson College Road after a video emerged on social media showing underage boys allegedly consuming drugs in the bar’s washroom during a late-night party.
Around 6-7 group members gathered at the pub at around 1 pm on Monday, damaging the signage and furniture using stones, wooden sticks, and iron rods.
In response, the police have arrested eight individuals, including the proprietors and managers of the pub, who have been granted five days of police custody by the court. Additionally, one inspector, one assistant inspector, and two constables have been suspended for failing to perform their duties.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill stated, “The video shows the youth consuming drug-like substances during the party. We are investigating if this case falls under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.”
The incident has caused significant outrage among local residents, who are demanding stricter enforcement of laws to prevent such occurrences in the future. The police have committed to intensifying their crackdown on establishments involved in illegal activities to ensure the safety and well-being of minors in the city.
