Neeraj Chopra's Performance at Lausanne Diamond League: Last Throw Lands Him in 2nd Place

After winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and silver at Paris 2024, Neeraj Chopra, India's iconic javelin thrower, is now targeting the 90m mark—a feat only a few in the world have achieved. With a personal best throw of 89.49m at the Lausanne Diamond League, Neeraj is inching closer to this historic milestone.

In Short:

- Neeraj Chopra won gold in Tokyo 2020 and silver in Paris 2024.

- He aims to surpass the 90m javelin throw, a rare global achievement.

- His personal best throw is 89.49m, set at the Lausanne Diamond League.

- At Paris 2024, he was outthrown by Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who set an Olympic record.

India’s top javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, has taken Indian athletics to new heights. After his gold-winning performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Neeraj is now focused on breaking the challenging 90-meter mark in javelin throwing—a distance only a select few in the world have managed to reach.

At the Paris Olympics, Neeraj’s impressive throw of 89.45 meters wasn’t enough to secure gold, as Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters. This left Neeraj with the silver, despite his remarkable performance.

In a recent competition at the Lausanne Diamond League, Neeraj improved his season's best with a throw of 89.49 meters, finishing second behind Grenada's Anderson Peters, who threw 90.61 meters. Interestingly, Peters had only managed third place in Paris.

Despite his consistent top-level performances, Neeraj is driven by the desire to cross the elusive 90-meter barrier. His determination was clear, even as he expressed some disappointment at narrowly missing this milestone once again.

Neeraj’s silver medal at the Paris Olympics on August 8, marked by his then-season’s best throw of 89.45 meters, was a testament to his skill and hard work. However, his quest for the 90-meter throw continues, as he remains focused on making history for India once again.
