A serious rail accident was narrowly avoided in Madhya Pradesh today when two coaches of the Rani Kamlapati-Saharsa passenger train derailed at Itarsi junction. The incident took place around 6:10 pm on platform number 2, involving AC coaches B1 and B2, which slipped off the tracks. Fortunately, because the train was moving at a very low speed—less than 5 km/h—a major disaster was averted, and no injuries were reported.

The sudden derailment caused panic among the passengers, who immediately began to shout and scramble to exit the train. Within minutes, railway officials were on the scene to manage the situation. The train, identified as a summer special service numbered 01663, was heading to Saharsa in Bihar, passing through Patna on its route.

Even after two and a half hours, the train remained at Itarsi junction in Hoshangabad district. The derailment has disrupted train movement on platforms 2 and 3, and efforts are ongoing to get the derailed coaches back on track. The cause of the derailment has yet to be determined, and authorities are working to restore normalcy as quickly as possible.
