In a significant reshuffle, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new Governors for several states and Union territories in India. This move includes new appointments for Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana, Jharkhand, and other regions.
Key Appointments:
- Maharashtra: C.P. Radhakrishnan, previously serving as the Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as the new Governor.
- Punjab: Gulab Chand Kataria, who was the Governor of Assam, has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and will also serve as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
- Rajasthan: Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been named the new Governor.
- Telangana: Jishnu Dev Varma takes over as the Governor.
- Sikkim: Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the Governor.
- Jharkhand: Santosh Kumar Gangwar is the newly appointed Governor.
- Puducherry: K. Kailashnathan has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor.

The official release stated, “The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.”
Additionally, the President accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
