Mahindra has renamed its upcoming 5-door Thar as "Thar ROXX" and shared a teaser of its new design. The Thar ROXX will be unveiled in India on August 15, showcasing significant design updates including a body-colored slatted grille, new LED headlights with C-motif DRLs, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The extended wheelbase accommodates two additional doors and a more spacious interior.
Exterior Design Updates
The Thar ROXX sports a new grille, silver-finished bumpers, and squared rear wheel arches. The rear features new LED tail lamps with an inverted C-motif and a potential new spare wheel cover.
Interior and Features
The Thar ROXX's interior is expected to feature beige upholstery, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, and a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with push-button start, and a 360-degree camera. Safety is prioritized with up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, electronic stability control, and possibly ADAS.
Engine and Performance
The Thar ROXX will offer 2.2-litre diesel and 2-litre turbo-petrol engines, likely with increased power. Both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions will be available, along with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options.
Pricing and Competition
Expected to start around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), the Thar ROXX will compete with the Force Gurkha 5-door and serve as a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
